Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

The meaning of this affix is something like 'Subject Vb badly/half-heartedly'. It is a verbal variant of the affix N{-palaaq}N, with the meaning 'bad/miserable N', and the present verbal form seems to add a similar meaning to the stem; either describing the verbal action itself, or describing the Object or result of the action. Kleinschmidt writes of the nominal variant:

"[By this affix], one portrays the object as being of a lesser kind, but always with a certain degree of humour (hereby it is differentiated from {{ mref(kl/affix/nn/-kasik) }}). If used of one's own possessions, the humour often comes to the fore. If used of another's possession, the disregard/contempt is often stronger; but neither element ever fully disappears".
With this verbal variant, it it seems that a similar relationship obtains w.r.t. the verbal action: If the `Subject` is the speaker, the meaning may be more humorous, whereas if the `Subject` is someone else, the meaning may be more one of contempt.
