Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

The meaning of this affix is 'Agent lets Patient Vb in stages', or 'several times' or 'one by one'. It is a straightforward combination of causative V{tət}V, 'let' and V{təq}V, 'in stages'. Note that the latter is an /əq/ stem, which prevents vowel-initial affixes from removing the final /q/, like a nominal strong q-stem. See the component V{təq}V for further examples of this.

Its intransitive form is formed with the {-i} variant of the HTR-morpheme {ði} as usual with a q-stem, but this too will not remove the final /q/, but instead weaken it to /r/, so we obtain the HTR-form /tətəri/. When used intransitively without HTR, the meaning is passive 'Patient is Vb'ed in stages'.

Left sandhi:

Left sandhi is inherited from the left-most component, V{tət}V. See this for details.

Right sandhi:

Right sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{təq}V. See this for details.

Inflection sandhi:

Inflection sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{təq}V. See this for details.
