Form and usage:

This affix is a combination of V{ssaŋa}V, 'think that' and the impersonal affix V{naq}V. The meaning can best be translated as 'will presumably', but it can manifest itself in two different ways:

Given the inclusion of V{naq}V, it seems most likely that the meaning is actually avalent, but we record the (apparently) monovalent examples below as well.

    I.e., 'it is expectable that he will arrive'.

  • aallassanganarpoq, he will presumably travel/depart [11]

    I.e. 'it is expectable that he will travel/depart'.

    From appappoq, 'he shoots/catches murre' (a type of bird).
