Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'suddenly/surprisingly'. According to Kleinschmidt and Schultz-Lorentzen [9, 11], it is mainly used in combination with other affixes:
- V{-rataŋŋuaq}V, seemingly in the same meaning as the present affix, or with an element of more vivid surprise.
- V{-rataqə}V, meaning 'finally'.
- V{-rataqsinnau}V and V{-rataqsinnaaŋŋuq}V, meaning 'is ready to be Vb'ed'.
